  1. I can't comment on the movie as I haven't seen it yet, but I can tell you a bit about Michalkov: he is very well known in Poland as he has befriended a lot of Polish dissidents and has played in some Polish movies. He is lovable but at the same time people wonder whether its patriotism or nationalistic, imperialistic sentiments that you can discover in his own movies. You tell me, as you seem to know a lot more about him than I do :)

  2. well, this is a guy who lived all his private life very private and his public life, well, VERY publicly. He's a very nationalistic, pro-Empire, pro-Putin. He even wrote Putin a letter asking him to stay in power after 2008. Sublime artist and such contemptible politics :(

  3. I have some friends who are actors. What I have found quite unbelievable is that all the wonderful insightful texts they deliver on stage are like water off a duck's back - they don't seem to get any wiser from having to analyse and interpret them to the public. Quite impermeable they seem, or their brains if they have any! A disclaimer: I'm not saying all actors are like that! :)
