It's incredible how often genius borders on insanity. Is there a difference between them? Maybe to achieve real greatness one has to yield to the madness that is contained within every beautiful mind.

ReplyDeletesocial norms are merely a suppression of individuality (quirks, brilliance, madness etc.) for the sake of prescribed ways of functioning (ritualistic behavior) to minimise the tension between the members of society. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy we agree on this one! If I were better versed in the history of art I could quote hundreds of artists' names who were locked up in madhouses for what they were, and whose art we cherish today. But you probably know them better than I do. I find it so important that we have similar views on some of the subjects. You don't know how much it means to me :)
