45 - 54, the highest rise in suicide rate. Middle age crisis ... or the gloomy financial reality of modern times ... or something else? Whatever it is, this is the time when people take stock of their lives and often come up with depressing conclusions. Of course, this is just a conventional caesura as diferent people reach it at different times. Statistically I seem to have got over it, but don't believe in statistics!
