Defending one's Woman...
Защищая даму!
things about this world that seem to matter... Life is too absurd to take it seriously. Laugh and be laughed at - that's my motto.
ReplyDeleteHysterical! :D He says: you're sorry and she's in pain (and then goes on to hit the other man's woman). Made by a pair of the funniest stand-up comedians in Poland. How on Earth did you come across this video?!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw it on a blog from someone in Russia... It is quite insanely funny, but to analyze it even further (not unlike DeGA) - it is a good representation of the inanity of the old Babylonian legal principle an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Since it was a woman who was offended, the ONLY reasonable punishment from her companion would be to the offender's woman. The woman herself may have kicked the offender and done a comparable damage. But as a companion, her man can only inflict a similar damage, i.e. hit the offender's woman. So it is weirdly educational and funny nevertheless.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, but I think it also illustrates, in a very graphic way (I agree), the absurdity of the very principle you're talking about (eye for an eye, etc.) I hope we have advanced a bit since the times of the Babylonians!!! After all, they are considered (and called) pagans :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, I didn't know the meaning of the word "inanity" so I just repeated in my comment what you said before me. I agree with you completely :)
ReplyDeleteзначит только DEGa анализирует то, что можно просто смотреть? ;););)
ReplyDeleteDeGA мог бы и прочитать по-английски...
ReplyDeleteHaving just watched a movie about the capital punishment, I realized that this video is a perfect illustration of the insane concept where the 3rd party (a boyfriend of an offended lady in a video, or the state in the movie) assumes the role of the arbiter and meters out the punishment.
ReplyDeleteWhat seems just on the surface turns out to be a moral quagmire instead. I need to re-read John Rawls' 'Theory of Justice' to make some sense of this....
