Le Monde: The Danes as the bad boys of Europe
In 2007 the inhabitants of 27 European nations produced each, on average, 522 kg of trash a year, according to Eurostat. From 2000 onward, the level of trash production has been pretty stable: 524 kg in 2000, and 523 in 2006. The record is currently held by the Danes - 801kg of trash each, while Czechs modestly produce only 294 kg.
